What You Need to Know About Heart Health: Heart disease in America
One of the main focuses of public health in the US currently is heart health and heart disease. Heart disease effects 1 out of every 4 Americans and is the leading cause of death for both men and women and people of most racial and ethnic groups. Coronary heart disease, which is a build up of plaque in the hearts major blood vessel, is the most common type of heart disease with about 18.2 million adults over the age of 20 being affected. Other forms of heart disease include hypertension, angina, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, and atherosclerosis. If you have any of these conditions, it is important to talk with your healthcare provider about ways to manage your condition and how diet, exercise, and supplementation fits into a healthy lifestyle. If you don’t have any of these diseases, you may be at risk because of you lifestyle choices and genetics, it is also important to talk to your doctor about your risks and how you can implement lifestyle changes to reduce your risk for disease.
Heart disease risks
There are many risk factors for heart disease, including high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, diabetes, overweight and obesity, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, and excessive alcohol use, and smoking. These are all considered lifestyle factors that can either be helpful to your health, or hurtful. It is within your control to change risk factors like diet, exercise, alcohol use, and smoking.
If you have one of these risk factors, you are at risk for heart disease, especially when you have more than one of these risk factors. For example, an individual who has diabetes but is watching what they eat, exercise multiple times a week, and keep their blood sugar under control is at lower risk than an individual who has diabetes, doesn’t exercise, and doesn’t control their blood sugar through diet. By changing the way, you live, you can increase your quality of life with heart disease.
The main goal of public health is prevention and awareness. This includes knowledge around diet, exercise, and medication use. In addition to diet and exercise, there are other ways to help prevent complications related to heart disease. This includes disease preventative supplementation.
Through supplementation, you can increase disease prevention and achieve a level of health that you can’t achieve through diet alone. Although disease prevention starts with lifestyle changes like diet and exercise, adding supplements can improve your ability to fight off disease further.
CardioSupport is a patented dietary supplement designed to increase blood flow through blood vessel dilation, reduced plaque buildup and improved cholesterol and triglyceride levels. In addition, CardioSupport has antioxidant properties to reduce inflammation.
The main herbal ingredient that provides these heart benefits is Dan Shen, or Salvia Miltiorrhiza. Dan Shen is a dried root used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for its treatment of coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, renal deficiency, and liver cirrhosis. In clinical studies, Dan Shen expands blood vessels and improves blood circulation leading to improvement in blood flow and blood pressure.2 In addition, it significantly improved platelet aggregation involved in cholesterol metabolism and movement through the body.
Tienchi Ginseng and Astralagus extract are combined with Dan Shen to provide a proprietary blend of herbals that work synergistically to provide additional heart health benefits. Tienchi Ginseng is an anti-inflammatory and helps to improve lipid build up in the blood vessels to improve blood pressure. Astralagus extract has antioxidant effects that improve inflammation and inhibit free radical production associated with aging.
By using CardioSupport daily, you are improving blood circulation, reducing inflammation and improving overall energy levels. All benefits work to improve heart health and aid in reducing disease risk. Supplementation combined with healthy lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise can help reduce risk for heart disease or improve quality of life with heart disease.
